AIMIM not to field candidates in Karnataka polls, Asaduddin Owaisi announces support to JDS
“The party led by Deve Gowda should get maximum number of seats in the Karnataka elections. The MIM will not field its candidates in the polls. Instead, the party will campaign for JDS candidates in Karnataka,” MIM president and Hyderabad MP, Asaduddin Owaisi said here on Monday.
Asaduddin Owaisi said he favoured a non-Congress and non-BJP government coming to power in Karnataka for which reason he was supporting the JDS. He said after the Karnataka polls, even in the Lok Sabha elections next year, there would be a non-Congress and non-BJP alliance in power.
“We feel both national parties have totally failed. We want non-Congress and non-BJP government in Karnataka for a qualitative development. MIM will not be fielding any candidates, I will address public meetings to support JDS if there is a need. I had a talk with Kumaraswamy. We will support JDS and campaign also,” he said.
Owaisi said it was in the interest of Karnataka and the nation that Kumaraswamy became CM. Congress is not powerful enough to stop BJP,” he said.
The MIM leader said in Karnataka, the Congress government had not even allowed him to unfurl the national flag on August 15. “I was asked to leave my hotel room during the municipal elections. JDS is the only hope for the state,” he said.
